It was supposedly written by the Hebrew King SolomonWP, and there are records of its existence dating back to the first century B.C. Because of this, there are many versions in different languages, the oldest of which is the Greek version from the 12th century. This particular copy is owned by the British MuseumWP. During the 15th century, the book was banned by the church.
The book covers demon-summoning rituals and various other ceremonies in great detail. According to Saeki it is considered one of the most authoritative books on magic. She claims nearly all other grimoires have been influenced by it, such as True Black Magic and Secrets of Secrets.
