Reunion (Saikai - 再会) is the second episode of the Bible Black: New Testament series and the tenth anime episode produced overall.
It was first released in Japan on the 25th of November, 2004 and in the United States on the 15th of November, 2005 under the name Book One: First Scripture in a double feature containing both Reunion and the first episode Revival.
With Reika Kitami's soul awakened inside Kurumi Imari's body, the witch once again attempts to seize power by stealing the Spear of Longinus. The mysterious Jody Crowley meanwhile revives the presumed dead student Yuki Toudou to influence future events. And the Tokken agency continues its investigation into the occult incidents with the help of agents Imari and Aki Ichikawa.
No longer in control of her own body, Kurumi Imari is still vigorously raping a female clerk tied to one of the sinks in the ladies bathroom of a bank. Moments before, the soul of the wicked Reika Kitami awakened within her, overriding Imari's consciousness.
After climaxing, Imari takes the safety deposit box key, numbered 3079, from the dead occultist bank robber leader whose neck she broke minutes ago. She makes her way down to the bank's vault, leaving behind her unconscious colleague Aki Ichikawa.
Down in the vault, Imari opens the secured container and finds a grey package containing a small, sharp black metal object which she identifies as the Spear of Longinus. At that same time, police forces storm the building using teargas. Imari hears the ensuing firefight between the other bank robbers and the remaining hostages, who are panicking as shots are fired. Moments later, chief Yuge finds and wakes his associate Aki in the bathroom.
At night, in the autopsy room of the city hospital, a mysterious white robed girl is standing over the dead body of student Yuki Toudou on an examination table. She performs a ritual, utilizing rose petals and two dead cats laying on either side of the table. After chanting:
- "Zazas Zazas Nasatanada Zazas"
She cuts her finger with a scalpel and rubs the blood on Yuki's lips.
Down the hall, young police investigator Naoto Yamanishi and his partner are making their way to the autopsy room along with a doctor. His colleague insists that Yamanishi takes a look at the two bodies that died in a mysterious fire on the Academy roof earlier. One corpse was burned to a crisp, while the girl's body was left completely intact. Yamanishi, still dressed in a hospital gown from an earlier incident, remarks that he thought the case had been moved to the Tokken agency, and remembers seeing Imari pass him in one of the school's hallways earlier. His partner claims they still have jurisdiction to get a copy of the autopsy chart.
When they enter the autopsy room, their faces are dumbstruck; Yuki is sitting on the examination table alive and well.
Later, at the Tokken agency headquarters, the agents learn of the sudden revival of Yuki. Kitami, still acting like she is Imari, reads the autopsy report that indicates the girl had several abrasions, suggesting she was raped by professor Yoshitani who burned to death in the fire. Aki reports that Yuki showed no signs of brain injury and was brought home by her family. Looking at her watch, Imari says that the new semester starts today and decides to visit the school where the incident occurred.
Aki brings Yuge a picture of the Spear of Longinus and reports that it is the only item missing from the bank vault. He contemplates that the artifact must have been given to someone else before Aki and Imari were captured. Aki explains that they went to the bank to retrieve the fragment left by archaeologist Souji Yoshitani, the father of the man who burned to death. She tells the agents that he went missing six months ago after going on a ruin excavation. Yuge suspects the disappearance of him and the artifact must be related to the bizarre serial murders that have been taking place.
Angered, Yuge commands his agents to wipe out every Devil worshiping cult. He tells Aki to research the artifact's background and to secretly conduct an investigation of the school.
A moment later. the school's vice-principal Takeshi Oshima enters the room, wondering why Saeki summoned him. She thanks him for coming over so early and offers him the tea. He compliments her, and notices the tea tastes a bit more bitter than usual.
Saeki next unlocks a large steel door and asks Oshima to follow her. They make their way through an underground passage and Oshima states he did not know the school had a tunnel like this. Saeki claims it is the remains of an old monastery, and that Reika Kitami, one of the schools's former professors, told her about it when she was a student. The vice-principal remarks that the new substitute teacher Rika Shiraki also graduated from the school. Upon hearing her name, Saeki immediately flashes back to her memory of the girl. She mentions that she graduated the same year as her.
Saeki then asks about the incident on the school roof that took place during break, claiming she heard about it from student council president Saki Kiriya. Oshima explains that according to the police report, professor Yoshitani expressed his love to a student and raped her when she rejected him. He then burned himself to death out of guilt. The vice-principal also reveals that the headmaster and Yuki Toudou's father persuaded the police to cover up the incident. He expresses his concern about the psychological after-effects Yuki must have suffered.
At the end of the passage, the pair arrives in the school's basement storage room. Shocked, the vice-principal notices several female students gathered there, including Yuki Todou and Saki Kiriya. They giggle, and Oshima starts feeling faint due to the drugs he ingested from the tea. The girls grab him and set him down on a stone altar. Saeki compliments him on being an intelligent and sportive person, and whimsically says they have a request for him. Yuki suddenly starts kissing him passionately and proceeds to give him oral sex. The other girls eagerly join in pleasuring their vice-principal.
Aki and Imari/Kitami meanwhile make their way towards the school. Aki reveals that a powdery residue in the safety deposit box has revealed the alloys of the missing artifact from the bank, which Imari contemplates are the same elements found in meteorites. Aki says the object was cast into metal over 5000 years ago, but shows little signs of wear. She adds that it could have been used as part of a spear. Imari says it is the Spear of Longinus, the spear that pierced the flesh of Jesus ChristWP when he was crucified.
The girls enter the school's basement staircase. Inside the storage room, Saeki is still pleasuring vice-principal Oshima on the altar, who admits he has always wanted her. They are surrounded by the students continuously chanting:
- "Zazas Zazas Nasatanada Zazas"
Outside the room, Aki is nervously spying on the perverted spectacle. Imari smiles and quips that it might be too much to handle for a virgin like her.
Meanwhile, outside the school, student Jody Crowley, the mysterious white robed girl, is standing on a high walkway. She telepathically links with Yuki, whose eyes show her the events in the basement.
Back in the staircase, Aki asks Imari what the ritual is about, and her colleague coldly explains it is a preparation ritual for a ceremony to revive the Bible Black. She then reveals her possession of the Spear of Longinus to her. She holds it up to the perplexed Aki's forehead, reciting a familiar chant:
- "Zazas Zazas Nasatanada Zazas"
A light shoots out from the artifact, knocking Aki unconscious.
Outside, the sky darkens, and former Academy art professor Hiroko Takashiro senses the restoration ceremony is about to begin. Her face turns to horror when she suddenly notices Jody Crowley standing on the walkway.
Aki is laying spread eagle and shackled on the stone altar half naked. She wakes up and sees Imari dressed in a red robe. She asks her what is going on, but Imari turns to Saeki and thanks her for waiting such a long time for her. The teacher thanks her, leaving Aki puzzled when she calls her Kitami. Imari slashes her hand with the Spear of Longinus and spills the blood over Aki's body as her followers start to chant:
- "Elohei Elohim, Elohei Elohim, Sabaoth Elion"
Imari proceeds to lick the spilt blood off Aki's body.
- "Zazas Zazas Nasatanada Zazas"
The girls continue chanting and Imari drops the spear tip in the semen filled chalice, causing the artifact to glow red. In one swift stroke, she inserts it in Aki's vagina, making the girl scream and spasm in pain.
- The title of this episode likely refers to the return of Reika Kitami within Kurumi Imari's body to Saeki's coven.
- A camera can clearly be seen in the background when Imari/Kitami is retrieving the Spear of Longinus artifact from the bank vault (screenshot). However, the recordings are never seen or investigated. It is possible the woman disabled the camera beforehand or destroyed any recorded footage.
- When Aki is looking at her research on her laptop, the screen displays the text Bible Black La Noche de Walpurgis, a reference to the title of the first anime series and first game (screenshot).
- When Saeki flashbacks to her memories of Shiraki, images of the first anime series are seen. However, Saeki was not actually present during these particular scenes so she should have no memory of them (screenshot).
- Apart from the few quick flashbacks mentioned above, Rika Shiraki does not feature in this episode.
- Fellow major character Hiroko Takashiro is also only seen for several seconds.
- In the scene in which Oshima and Saeki have sex, there is a drawing error that shows the candle fire floating in the air instead of on the candles itself (screenshot).
